ESTA Status
After you successfully completed and submitted your ESTA application, the Esta status will inform you about whether or not your application was approved.

As soon as your ESTA status changes, we will inform you immediately via e-mail.
The ESTA approval time typically takes a few hours, but may take up to 72 hours
in some cases. This is why we advise you to apply for ESTA at least 72 hours
before
departure in case
of any delays or complications.

ESTA validity
ESTA is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
During
the 2 years you can enter US without having to reapply for ESTA.
The timer is starting on the date that your ESTA was approved.

If your ESTA is about to expire you don't need to wait until the expiration date to reapply.
Allowed duration of your stay in the US
The maximum duration of your stay in the US with an ESTA is decided by a US Customs
and
Border Protection officer upon arrival.
The maximum time the CBP officer can allow you to stay is 90 days and depends on the
purpose of your visit.
Please note that as an ESTA holder you cannot extend your stay beyond the authorized
period.
Travelling to Canada or Mexico to try and reset the 90-day counter is not allowed.
You must leave North America completely to reset the ESTA 90 day limit.
In case you plan to stay longer than the maximum duration allowed for ESTA, you need
to
obtain a visa.
What can I do if my ESTA was denied?
If your ESTA application was denied it means that you will not be able to travel to the US under the Visa Waiver Program. However you can still apply for a visa at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
Entry denied despite of a valid ESTA
If your entry to the United States was denied despite having a valid ESTA, it means that the Customs and Border Protection officer at the port of entry found some inadmissibility ground that overrides your ESTA eligibility.
